Anne was born in Ottawa, Ontario and grew up exploring the natural and historic Canadian scenery of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The magic of red, gold and orange as the sun pierced through maple forests first stirred her creative senses at a very young age. History and the natural Canadian environment continue to inspire her works.
Nature, and in particular trees, have a strong place in her life and her art, representing beauty and the wonder of creation. In her art she interprets natural tapestries of the landscape - the trees reaching, breaching and joining earth to sky and present to past, to please the eye and give a sense of thankfulness at the magic of it all.
Anne paintings celebrate nature in small, natural areas by capturing a moment. She began painting landscapes, in oil, in 1995. In 2000 she discovered chalk pastel, which was her exclusive medium for 10 years. She now also uses acrylics and oil pastels to produce her colourful landscape art. These three mediums have the ability to layer colour over colour. Anne creates layers of light and colour for their beauty and to represent life experience.
For the last year Anne has been exploring the West Coast coastlines. Her current works are iconic Canadiana, focussing on rural Alberta and the wilds of Algonquin Park in Ontario. Anne works mostly in her studio but enjoys plein aire painting and sketching wherever she goes.
